Influence of Different Manganese Concentrations on Eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) Grown in a Hydroponic System

چکیده
The study aimed to evaluate the effect of three different manganese (Mn) concentrations on plant growth, leaf chlorophyll, carotenoid content, photosynthetic activity, and root morphological development in eggplant (Solanum melongena L. ‘Adana cv. Dolmalık’ ‘Köksal F1’). Plants were grown continuously aerated nutrient solution by using a deep-water culture (DWC) technique fully automated climate room. A randomized block design with replications was used. Both excessive (400 µM) insufficient (0.4 Mn zone reduced shoot fresh dry matter, branch number, area, chlorophyll content both examined genotypes comparison optimal (200 µM). Köksal F1 produced higher biomasses, root:shoot ratio, total average diameter at low concentration Mn. Conversely, Adana Dolmalık significantly stem length, length volume high concentrations. Overall, deficit excess nutrition could induce disorders growth which may reduce crop yield.

PLANT REGENERATION IN EGGPLANT (Solanum melongena L.) A REVIEW
Eggplant is highly responsive to various tissue culture techniques. Somatic embryogenesis and direct organogenesis are widely studied protocols in this crop, but potential of regeneration varies with genotype, explant and culture media supplemented with different combination and concentration of growth hormones. The genotype is the most important factor affecting somatic embryogenesis and organ...
متن کاملGENETIC DIVERGENCE ANALYSIS IN EGGPLANT ( Solanum melongena L . )
Genetic divergence among 19 eggplant genotypes was estimated using Mahalanobis’s D statistic. Altogether five clusters were formed. Cluster I contained the highest number of genotypes (7) and cluster IV and V contained the lowest (2). The pattern of distribution of genotypes from different geographical locations into five clusters was random, demonstrating that geographical isolation may not be...
متن کاملAgrobacterium Mediated Genetic Transformation of Eggplant (Solanum Melongena L.)
An efficient variety-independent method for producing transgenic eggplants (Solanum melongena L.) via Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated genetic transformation was developed. Two weeks old cotyledon explants were transformed by co-cultivation with Agrobacterium tumefaciens strain LBA4404 harboring a binary vector pVDH65 carrying the reporter gene β-glucuronidase intron (GUS-INT) and the marker ...
متن کاملThe WRKY Transcription Factor Genes in Eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) and Turkey Berry (Solanum torvum Sw.)
WRKY transcription factors, which play critical roles in stress responses, have not been characterized in eggplant or its wild relative, turkey berry. The recent availability of RNA-sequencing data provides the opportunity to examine WRKY genes from a global perspective. We identified 50 and 62 WRKY genes in eggplant (SmelWRKYs) and turkey berry (StorWRKYs), respectively, all of which could be ...
متن کاملAgronomical Performance of High Yielding Cultivar of Eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) Grown in Sewage Sludge Amended Soil
A field study was conducted to assess the agronomical performance of eggplant (Solanum melongena cv. Pusa Purple Long Hybrid-F1) grown in sewage sludge amended soil in rainy and summer seasons during two consecutive years 2012 and 2013. The results showed that sewage sludge significantly (P < 0.05/P < 0.01) increased the Organic Carbon (OC), sodium (Na + ), potassium (K + ), calcium (Ca 2+ ), m...
